22 Gorman coins and 4 non-Gorman coins were offered in the Fixed Price List. I was interested in 3 coins offered in the Fixed Price List portion and to my dismay they had all been sold, despite my responding with a couple of hours of the original posting. I am sure several collectors were eagerly awaiting the offering and were ready to pull the trigger regardless of price and pedigree. I later found out that 15 of 26 lots sold within 24 hours.
The Sealed Bid Sale includes 41 Gorman coins and 7 non-Gorman coins. One of the non-Gorman highlights is a 1829 Curl Base 2. I am guessing this coins should go for around $7K including buyers premium.
Among the Gorman coins, 2 were plated in Early United States Dimes and 4 were plated in the Variety Identification Guide. Coins also boasted impressive pedigrees including Logan and Lovejoy.
I ended up submitting bids on 4 lots. I bid aggressively on two lots and less aggressively on the other two (lest the availability of funds become an issue).
Win or lose, I will likely pursue second chance coins that don't fit my ideal, but would still represent an important pedigree in the world of capped bust dimes.
