The Platinum session featured a Chandragupta I and Skandagupta coin. Both of which went below my estimate, but hammered at $9,500 and $14,000 respectively.
The Signature Auction had a broad range of offerings.
Chandragupta I - King & Queen Type - I estimated these would go for between $1,200 and $2,000 and most went for nearly double my estimates between $2,300 and $3,200. I was prepared to bid on them up to $2,000.
Samudragupta - Javelin Type - I nailed the estimates on these at $2,000 and $2,500
Samudragupta - Asvamedha Type - I was way off, estimating this would go for $3,500 and it ended up hammering for $15,000.
Kachagupta - Chakradhvaga Type - This was one of the lots I was in the hunt for. My estimate was $1,500 and the internet bidding was $1,100. I bid $1,400; was outbid to $1,500; I bid $1,600; was outbid on the cut to $1,650; finally winning the lot at $1,700 within 13% of my estimate

Chandragupta II - Archer Type - I estimated the (8) lots between $800 and $1,800 and was very much in the ballpark with hammer prices between $850 and $1,700
Chandragupta II - Chhatra Type - This was a really nice coin that I estimated at $2,000 and it ended up hammering at $1,550. Somebody got a good deal.
Chandragupta II - Horseman Type - I estimated these at $2,000 and $2,200 and was prepared to bidon them, but the internet bidding was up to $4,000 and I had to abandon them.
Kumaragupta I - Archery Type - I was right on with my estimate of $1,800, it hammered for $1,900.
Kumaragupta I - Horseman Type - These are always desirable coins that I estimated at $2,200 and $2,400. They hammered for nearly double that at $4,000.
Skandagupta - Archer Type - I did not realize how sought after these were. I estimated between $1,400 and $1,600 and they hammered for considerably more between $1,500 and $3,200.
Chandragupta III - Archer Type - This was the last coin I felt like I could be in the hunt for with pre-bidding at $1,650 (above my estimate of $1,200). I bid $1,700; was outbid at $1,800 and abandoned rather than pushing $1,900 or $2,100. I was a little more reserved having secured an earlier lot.
Overall, the bidding was quite strong with total prices realized of $96,725. The top lots were Samudragupta (AU), Skandagupta (MS) and Chandragupta I (VF) at $15,000; $14,000 and $9,500 respectively. Only three lots hammered for under $1,000 and those were the common Chandragupta II Archer Type coins. The condition of the coins were good, but the strikes were off center making the legends difficult to read.
