March 2025 - Northside Coin Club - Capped Bust Dime Talk

Tuesday night I had the opportunity to visit with the Northside Coin Club up in Broomfield.  The 45 minute drive was not as bad as I expected it to be and I arrived about 20 minutes early and had time to set up and meet some of the members.

The meeting started at 7 PM with some new member introductions, club secretary's report, club treasurer's report, upcoming meeting topics, upcoming coin shows, plug for ANA summer seminar, etc.  This went on for a little over 30 minutes.

I started my talk which was essentially unedited since I gave it last June at South Suburban.  It was well received and I had about 6-8 questions come up during the talk.  It actually worked really well to take questions in real time rather than saving them for the end.  The talk went long and wrapped up after about 40 minutes.  There were about 20 folks in the audience.

The final presenter talked about recent coin news with articles from the popular press and the e-sylum which I thought was a really fun topic.  I am going to try to have something on hand in terms of news for future South Suburban club meetings.

Finally they had drawings for door prizes.  I am not as excited by this, but I certainly see the draw of keeping folks engaged until the end of the meeting.

After the meeting, we spent some time discussing coin books and looking and capped bust coinage from dimes to half dollars.  I put my plug in for the JRCS and maybe we will have a few people look up the organization.  I was pleasantly surprised to meet people who were working towards joining the Bust Half Nut Club.
