The girls picked up a really cool silver round with a Sea Turtle on it. I looked at a couple of dimes, but nothing I was in a position to purchase. I saw the coins I traded back in the dealers case at:
1824 50c PCGS XF40 (sold for $115, offered for $140) paid $170
1825 50c PCGS XF40 (sold for $160, offered for $180) paid $180
1827 50c NGC XF45 (sold for $160, offered for $190) paid $245
1827 50c ANACS VF 35 (sold for $65, offered for $88) paid $80
So despite my misgivings, I really was offered a fair price and Pralico coins had some room to make some money on the coins or discount them 10% an be OK. Different series do go up and down in price and I certainly do not have the best eye for value, but I do enjoy collecting and am willing to take a loss on purchases. I would rather make a profit, but am certainly more collector than investor. $175 loss of four coins over 10 years certainly sucks, but is not the end of the world.
I also grabbed a copy of Colorado Merchant Trade Tokens for $20 and trade for a numismatic book I got free and was so obscure that I did not even record the title.
All in all a very fun day.
